In 1976, we started our activity in Osaka, Japan. At that time there were growing movements regarding “organic agriculture” and “getting rid of food pollution” and under those situation we engaged in our activity. Our belief is described below.
1. We place an emphasis on the concept of values that food is a bounty of nature and
that man is a part of nature. We act in order realize a society where our relationship
with nature is treasured and one in which we can live with peace of mind.
2. We are particular about people more than “things.” By bringing back the relationship
between production, distribution, and consumption that was once fractured, we are
rebuilding the relationship and connections between people.
3. By re-examining our eating habits, we aim to consider the lifestyles of people around
the world and to live in harmony.
4. Rather than tentative, quick solutions, we aim to create a life that leads to a
fundamental future.
5. We pursue cooperation with organizations and individuals with similar aspirations that
goes beyond minor differences.
The number of our customers has been growing to 40,000 since we started our business 40 years or more ago. We supply them variety of food and goods from our delivery centers which are located in 20 places in the Kansai area. Our organization is mainly divided into three divisions based on their operations: managing and planning for the products, distribution and delivery centers. The people who work at the Kansai Yotsuba Association are now totaled several hundreds and they deliver safety food and commodities to our customers everyday.
For not to be just a consumer group only be supplied products, we have four farms and eight food processing factories aiming for involving in productive activity too. Moreover, we believe that we can consider the global food problems through experiencing both laboriousness and gratitude of producing food.
Because our productivity is not enough to supply food to all our customers, we cooperate local farmers and other manufacturers across the country. Lately we have been tying up with foreign farmers (mainly in Asia) having same ambition with us so they are taking an important role in our organization.
In conclusion, it is our mission to change the current social system regarding food by connecting a process of production, distribution and consumption. Without such change, we believe getting safety food is difficult. Toward that aim, we, along with other nations, would concern about the whole problems including social, economic and political issues not only in Japan but also in the world.
